Monologue Lebanese Letters at Compassiva!

Eduardo Mossri is an actor and was part of the recently concluded series from the Globo Network, Orphans of the Earth. He acted as Faruq, a Syrian refugee who, at great cost, managed to revalidate his medicine degree in Brazil and practice his profession there.

Eduardo is the grandson of Lebanese people, and in 2009 he wrote a monologue called Lebanese Letters, only really starting to present it in 2015. The piece was written using the letters his grandfather sent to his grandmother, together with various other real accounts of Lebanese immigrants.

The monologue was on stage for the whole month of October at Mário de Andrade Library and, before November arrived, Mossri did an exclusive free performance at Compassiva’s headquarters dedicated to the students – who find themselves in a situation of refuge – from the LAR (HOME – Taking Help to the Refugee) programme, volunteers and other invitees.

It was a very special evening! Full of laughs, lights, sounds – and, at a few points, the tears that decided to make an appearance too. The monologue was a gift for al those who make up Compassiva, inviting us to celebrate life, even with difficult and arduous new beginnings, always keeping hope alive.

Our most sincere thanks, Eduardo!
