Golden August: Talk on Breastfeeding for the Women at the Transform Workshops

On the 13th August, taking advantage of the theme of the Golden August campaign, Compassiva provided a special event for the women who go to the weekly Transform Workshops: a talk about breastfeeding.

The women who attend the workshops are of diverse ages and stages of life, but we understand that such a topic is not restricted to women specifically in the phase of breastfeeding, because even if they are not living it themselves, all of them have daughters, nieces, granddaughters, friends, neighbours or sisters who are living such a period of life. With the talk and subsequent conversation circle, they were able to clear up any doubts as much for themselves as for their networks, since they’ll now be able to support women around them with better quality information.

“The Transform Workshops started in 2016 with a big desire: that Compassiva could be a space of trust, love and valorisation for the women from the local area, initially through craft, but mainly through friendship. As time went by we started to notice that we could also contribute to their knowledge of feminine health, since most of them face adverse conditions of vulnerability. So, bringing them moments like this one: to offer professional information together with dialogue, a listening ear and advice is to promote a culture of self-care and self-esteem. We are very happy about all the relationships that have been built and the information that has been shared, because we know that these seeds are germinating and will produce fruit” comments Carolina Selles, one of the voluntary coordinators of the project.

The obstetrician nurse, doula and volunteer at Compassiva through the Cordão de Afeto project, Angélica Quiccoli, was once again with us to share precious information, care and precautions on the topic.
