Compassiva received the Award of Human Rights and Diversity from the Municipality of São Paulo, in recognition of our humanitarian practices in promoting employability, people management, organizational culture, social investment and positioning, specifically in the LAR – Levando Ajuda ao Refugiado (LAR – Bringing Help to Refugees) program.
LAR was created to respond to the most basic and urgent needs of refugees and refuge applicants in the city of São Paulo. We want to support these people as they rebuild their lives in a new country, providing not only a safe place, but also an environment for learning and coexistence. We work with Portuguese classes, legal assistance, revalidation of diplomas, referral to job opportunities and support with emergency aid.
“This is a public recognition of the improvement that Compassiva has provided to São Paulo society”, says Débora Blair, coordinator of LAR. “The relevance of our work with the city’s refugee and immigrant community is evident, as we open doors and build bridges so that they are not only welcomed, but also included and integrated into the local society. This is about defending human rights and valuing ethnic and cultural diversity”.
The Award of Human Rights and Diversity aims to build a collection of good practices based on the initiatives recognized by the Award and to foster a network of organizations, where Compassiva can share and exchange experiences to reflect on the challenges of inclusion and promotion of diversity. In addition, there will be a dialogue with experts and public agents working with the promotion of human rights, until the end of 2021.
