Dojo: A special training session at Fight School with Eduardo Resston

Last Tuesday, on the 16th April, training with some of the young people who attend the Dojo project was on a different mat: we visited Eduardo Resston’s Fight School academy.

Eduardo was the teacher who started the Dojo activities at Compassiva four years ago, giving jiu-jitsu classes to children and young people from the local area. Yesterday, eight boys and a girl were able to train with Eduardo as well as having an inspiring chat with him.

“When I started to train I was the same age as you and I didn’t even dream of being a jiu-jitsu teacher. After reaching brown belt, I started to give private lessons, and after reaching black belt, I opened my own academy: Fight School. Today we have around 100 students training here. Keep on putting the effort in and training because you never know if tomorrow this could be your profession. And that’s apart from the fact that the sport promotes values and perseverance that can be used in every area of your lives.”

May we have many more special training sessions for the Dojo students! Training on other mats and hearing about other stories and realities contributes – a lot – to the growth and maturity of these children and young people.
